Development Education Centres

The Development Education Centres (DECs) are in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness and cover all Scottish Local Authorities from these regional bases.

DECs offer high quality Career Long Professional Learning (CLPL) opportunities and innovative learning and teaching projects. They support educators at all levels in incorporating global citizenship in the classroom, across whole schools or learning communities.

Each centre also has an accessible library of resources which explore global awareness, citizenship, justice and equality, human rights, the environment, sustainable development, gender awareness, race issues, aid, trade, debt, water, food, farming, peace and cooperation along with materials on many countries in the Global South.

The education workers in each DEC can also provide advice on appropriate resources for particular subject areas and themes.

DECs publish regular newsletters giving details of new resources, activities, initiatives, training opportunities and services available. Some DECs also offer support around adult, youth and community education work.

Use the map to find your local DEC and get in touch via the website links below.
