Making the Global Journey to Excellence- IDEAS Conference
IDEAS' conference Making the Global Journey to Excellence, co-hosted by LTS, was held on the 5th June with around 120 people in attendance. Speakers Colm Regan and Brian Boyd got the day off to a great start with talks that got rave reviews from many delegates. Our guest speakers clearly set out the challenge for the teaching profession of meeting the demands of sustainable global development in the 21t century, but apparently this stimulated rather than overwhelmed the assembled head teachers, teachers and local authority advisors.

The day continued with a selection of workshops on the topics from school partnerships to teacher networks, all with a focus on how to make it happen in your area. Again, participants reported that the workshops were extremely useful, with many planning to take forward what they had learned and thought about once back at their desks.
By far the most popular aspect of the day was the resident cartoonist who caught many of the day's insights and ideas in comic form for all to see. Not only did these provide a bit of light relief: they also provoked further reflection and comment from the delegates.
It was - all in all - a lovely day, with many positive plans for the future being made by delegates. The full conference report will be available soon; in the meantime please contact IDEAS for more details of the conference and its outcomes.
