Resource Centres

There are six Development Education Centres (DECs) in Scotland all offering a variety of support services.

Each centre has an extensive library of resources which explore global awareness, citizenship, justice and equality, human rights, the environment, sustainable development, gender awareness, race issues, aid, trade, debt, water, food, farming, peace and cooperation along with materials on many countries in the developing world.

Materials include a wide selection of teaching packs, videos, games, CD-Roms, magazines, posters, books and photographs and are designed to support the Scottish curriculum and on-going adult, youth and community work.

Education workers in each DEC will be happy to provide advice on appropriate resources for particular subject areas and themes as well as information on how to obtain them.

DECs offer workshops on how to incorporate a global dimension into schools as well as adult, youth and community education work. They also publish regular newsletters giving details of new resources, activities, initiatives, training opportunities and services available.
