UN Global Goals School STEM Summit 2018

Aberdeen Science Centre and Montgomery Development Education Centre invite all teachers of STEM subjects and STEM Ambassadors to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of the UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development.

This annual event shall showcase interactive classroom resource activities and afford the opportunity for attendees to consider methods of incorporating global issues and children's rights in the classroom whilst maintaining a STEM focus.

Specialist guest speakers shall also be invited to deliver interesting short talks.

Fairtrade teas and coffees shall be available.

Scotland’s International Development Alliance Conference, Edinburgh

In celebration of the third anniversary of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Year of Young People in Scotland, this year will focus on the role of young people in development both in Scotland and across the world!

Start the Change project launch


Are you passionate about supporting young people to make a positive change in the world? Start the Change is an EU-funded project supporting teachers and youth workers to engage young people in issues around inequality and migration and then take action, locally and globally.

To find out more and meet local organisations working on these issues, help launch the project in Aberdeen.

Rice Farmer visit

One World Centre and JTS have organised an opportunity to hear directly from two growers of the famous Kilombero rice in Malawi about how a bag of rice can change a life! Come along, hear their story and enjoy some of their delicious rice served with Eswatini curry.

Global goals, local classrooms: SDG 14 Life Below Water

Blue Planet has stirred public consciousness about plastic waste. How can we respond and take action on this issue? Together we will think about the role young people in Scotland can play in taking action, sharing innovative solutions that other young people around the world are championing.

This Learning for Sustainability CLPL for all teachers is being delivered by Scotdec and Dynamic Earth to explore how we as educators can engage and motivate young people to see the urgency and importance of this issue.

Please note: part of this workshop will be on the beach.  Bring appropriate clothing!
