Scottish Fair Trade Forum resources competition

The Scottish Fair Trade Forum has announced a competition to create new Fair Trade nursery school educational resources.

The Scottish Fair Trade Forum has been supporting nurseries in Scotland to gain Fair Trade status since 2012. Fair Trade is that it fits into nursery activities easily and contributes across several curriculum areas, including Religious and Moral Philosophy, Social Sciences and Health & Wellbeing.

The Forum says: "The concepts of Fair Trade are extremely relevant in the nursery setting. Many nursery practitioners will hear the words ‘that’s not fair’ every day.

"ʻTradingʼ is also a concept that is often seen in Early Years education. Many children love to play in the shop area and will be interesting in ʻswappingʻ things with their friends at snack time. They may also have some understanding of items that they believe have more worth than others (ʻthe blue train goes faster so itʼs betterʼ)."

The winning entries will be added to the Scottish Fair Trade Forum website and shared with nurseries all over Scotland. Winners will also receive a goody bag for their nursery.

Entries can be free form, or can make use of the Scottish Fair Trade Forum’s existing activity template, which can be found on their website, and entries should be emailed to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

They must be submitted by Friday 18 May, and can be submitted on the Scottish Fair Trade Nursery Activity template, or can use the creator’s own format.
