Advocacy Coordinator joins IDEAS

IDEAS is excited to welcome Megan McHaney, who has recently started with us in the role of advocacy coordinator for the recently launched Bridge 47 project, aimed at promoting values-based education internationally.

The Bridge 47 Network is a three-year European Union-funded project, aimed at connecting global educators and policymakers, and in turn supporting them to encourage an educational focus on people, rights and sustainability instead of just economic skills and competition.

It is based on Sustainable Development Goal 4.7

Megan previously worked as a development adviser with sparqs (student participation in quality Scotland) and as a policy and influencing officer with National Union of Students Scotland.

Megan brings with her a wealth of campaigning and advocacy experience, having worked across Scotland through these two roles to build capacity in college and university students' associations, ensuring that students are able to advocate for change according to their own circumstances.

In 2017, Megan took time out of full-time paid employment to complete her Masters in Community Learning and Development.

In her free time, Megan enjoys volunteering as a Girlguides Rainbows helper, supporting her church grow in the community, walking, cycling, painting, reading and spending time with family.
