Refugee Festival and Refugee Week coming up

Scotland's Refugee Festival will launch next week, with events taking place across Scotland - and schools can join in by attending events or through organising their own lessons.

World Refugee Day takes place on Tuesday 20 June and will be celebrated by a major event in Glasgow's George Square where people from all walks of life will join hands in a circle to show solidarity for refugees.

There will also be a picnic taking place in Glasgow's Barrowland Park on the Saturday before Refugee Week as part of the Great Get Together weekend of community events to commemorate murdered MP Jo Cox. You, Me and a Cup of Tea is a family friendly event that is open to everyone.

Refugee Week runs from 19-25 June and there are lots of educational resources and videos available on the Refugee Council website.

Resources are also available from Oxfam, Christian Aid and British Red Cross:
