Key global citizenship book on tour in January

IDEAS is happy to be collaborating on the launch tour of the new edition of key development education book 80:20: Development in an Unequal World, by Colm Regan and colleagues.

The book takes the reader through key issues, debates and perspectives in global development and human rights. It introduces and explores subjects including human development, sustainability, justice, women's rights, inequality, aid, education and ideas about change.

It is widely used at introductory university level, among teachers and students at senior post-primary level, by NGO staff in education, as well as in adult and youth education contexts.

The new seventh edition has been updated to reflect changes in the world, with the addition of double-page infographics and cartoons.

Professor Brian Boyd of Strathclyde University said that the book was "attractive, engaging, challenging and never simplistic or patronising and could allow schools to put global issues at the heart of the curriculum".

The book has been praised by former Irish president Mary Robinson, and is a favourite book of Scottish Minister Humza Yousaf MSP.

IDEAS was asked to be a partner on the Scottish launch tour, and events will be taking place across Scotland throughout January, with firm dates to be confirmed soon.
