Learning for the Sustainable Development Goals

This is a free course designed for GTCS registered teachers and early years practitioners in Scotland. Combining an interactive and participatory approach, Learning for the Sustainable Development Goals (Level 2) will support teachers in developing their confidence, knowledge and skills to bring the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) alive in the classroom and beyond.

In Scotland, as part of the Connecting Classrooms through Global Learning programme, the Global Learning Centers have developed a new and exciting free course Learning for the Sustainable Development Goals – level 2 which will start very soon and take place over the next few months in Edinburgh, Fife and Glasgow.

Links to Curriculum for Excellence will be made explicit, as will the national and international contexts which support young people to critically engage in real world issues. Teachers will gain a range of practical methodologies and resources to use in schools.

The course will explore:

  • central ideas in global citizenship and links with the SDGs
  • classroom activities for exploring the SDGs
  • links between SDGs and children’s rights
  • good practice and case studies from across Scotland

The course will take place at three locations across Scotland on the following dates:

Edinburgh - 20th March, 27th March, 1st May 2019

Glasgow - 14th March, 21st March, 23rd May 2019

North Fife - 30th April, 9th May, 12th June 2019
