We are particularly keen to work strategically with Local Authorities to tailor support so that it dovetails with your own priorities and ways of working. In particular, we offer:
- Free Career Long Professional Learning (CLPL) in various aspects of developing Global Citizenship, Rights across the Curriculum and Learning for Sustainability.
- Free tailored support to groups of school working together (e.g clusters, learning communities, ASGs)
- Free tailored support to Local Authority Probationer Programmes
- Events where teachers can network and share practice,
- Resources, classroom teaching materials and our on-line global citizenship magazine, Stride.
What are the benefits?
- Ensure that Learning for Sustainability, one of three key themes in the revised GTCS Standards and a Scottish Government entitlement for pupils is being addressed by your schools.
- Integrate Rights across the curriculum in your schools in support of GIRFEC and Recognising and Realising Children’s Rights.
What is required?
A key part of the GLP-S is assessing the impact of the global citizenship education. In order to evidence this, the GLP-S requires teachers and their SMTs to commit to the completion of baseline and follow-up teacher questionnaires and whole school audits. These short, user friendly assessment tools have been developed in consultation with teachers and with Dr Alan Britton, Glasgow University. These can be used across your Local Authority or tailored to complement any similar strategies being used or developed in your Local Authority.
